ABOUT
Early in 1995 Renfrewshire Enterprise approached Braidbar Primary School with publicity material regarding opening an After School Care. After extensive survey, questionnaires and parent consultation, it was decided that there was sufficient demand for OSC in Braidbar and meetings were arranged with appropriate bodies with a view to taking this project forward.

In April 1996, Braidbar After School Care was established as a Company Limited by guarantee. It is a Registered Charity, is non-profit making and is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a Childcare Provider. A Constitution has been drawn up and is available for perusal.
B.A.C.S. aims to
-
Provide children with a safe and stimulating environment which has a balance of free and structured play
-
Recognise that play should be encouraged by adults who have a friendly, approachable manner and who will not direct or restrict unnecessarily. Recognise and respond to each child’s needs regardless of age.
-
Adopt a positive approach to each child regardless of their race, religion, culture, or ability
-
Provide affordable childcare which offers parents the opportunity to work, return to education or embark on training initiatives.

What is B.A.C.S.?

We are an Out of School Care Service for children who require care and supervision before and after school hours. The service is available Monday to Friday during term time, from 07.45 until 09.00 hours and from 15.15 until 18.00 hours. Places are either pre-booked and paid for, or we now offer an ad-hoc service for an additional fee, when places are available. We operate within the school gym/dining hall and have access to the pitch and playground daily.
What do we provide?

Notwithstanding our aims above, B.A.C.S. strive to provide a play opportunity taking into consideration policy and procedure such as the National Care Standards, GIRFEC, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Children’s Charter.
Will food be provided?

A snack is provided to children when they finish school and join us at B.A.C.S; and has been nutritionally agreed. We provide a selection of cut fruit and vegetables, crackers, yoghurt and a plain biscuit each day. Diluting sugar free juice is available every day until the end of the day and a fruit bowl until 5pm.
We provide treats (and food tasting) too; and celebrate birthdays, special occasions, festivals and………. any excuse for a party…..in moderation!!!
Who will run the service?

A Management Committee will oversee the Service; made up of parents of children attending the Service and Individuals who have been co-opted as a result of their skills. Day to Day care of children and administration is the responsibility of the Manager, Caroline Norwood and her Depute Jacquie Campbell.
Braidbar pupils will be given priority on any waiting list, however, if there are insufficient numbers attending from Braidbar Primary School, then the service will be offered to surrounding schools
